Kydex, Boltaron and Concealex

Kydex, Boltaron and Concealex are an acrylic/PVC alloy that is durable, fire retardant, impact resistant, chemical resistant, and utterly resilient. Kydex and Boltaron are uniquely suited as the primary building material of the most rugged of all action specialty gear. Stellar holsters and knife sheaths are precision formed for an exact fit to your pistol or knife. They are unmatched in its ability to provide a solid secure grip on your weapon while at the same time allowing a crisp, clean, break on the draw. The memory inherent of the Kydex and Boltaron materials allows your holster or sheath to retain its shape and grip -- draw after draw, year after year. The "usual" applications fall behind with the possibility of mounting your weapon to virtually anything - even furniture! When compared to traditional materials, Kydex and Boltaron leaves all others behind.

Unlike leather, Kydex and Boltaron will not decay, rot, dry out or absorb moisture. The acids in natural and treated leather if left in contact with your hardware will cause corrosion. Not so with Kydex or Boltaron, which doesn't release any chemicals. Kydex and Boltaron are superior to Nylon and leather holsters and sheaths in that it is many times more rugged, withstanding punishment that over time would destroy even the best nylon or leather gear. Nylon is weak in its ability to retain your weapon without the use of cumbersome retaining straps. Stellar holsters and sheaths provide a secure grip requiring no straps to retain your weapon. We build a finger lock into every custom made item except tension (jerk) releas e models. Nylon holsters do not retain their shape after the draw, making re-holstering difficult and in some cases even dangerous. Kydex and Boltaron hold their shape, allowing for safe one-handed re-holstering. Kydex and Boltaron are virtually maintenance free. When dirty, rinse it off. When wet, dry it off -- or don't, it doesn't matter. Moisture, dirt, chemicals, salt water, solvents , or extreme environments do not affect it.

Can Kydex scratch you gun or knife? The short answer is NO! The long answer is "if you can't scratch your gun or knife with a credit card, you can't scratch it using a Kydex rig." What many folks fail to do though is just keeping the tool (weapon) clean. The same credit card that could not scratch the gun or knife before could use a grain of sand to grind into the gun or knife's finish. Both surfaces are hard and under these conditions, you can scratch your gun or knife. People that gob oil all over their weapon are actually attracting dirt and dust to get between the rig and their gun or knife.

Boltaron has replaced Concealex and in many cases replaced Kydex too. They are both known as "Specialized PVC, PVC-alloy and CPVC performance sheet for thermoforming, fabricating and membrane pressing products that will be flexible yet rigid."
